EngagedLab
For educators

You already wrote the material. This turns it into something a learner works through.

Upload the handout, the chapter or the slide deck you are teaching from this week. You get a lab you can read, edit, play and hand to your LMS, and a plain account of what the engine did and did not manage.

What you get from one upload

A generation finishes inside 5 minutes or stops and tells you why. It does not run on in the background and it does not hand back half a lab dressed as a whole one.

Objectives before sections

The pipeline states the lab's objectives first, with a Bloom level on each, then writes sections against them. Assessed activities cite the objectives they evidence by id, so the report can tell coverage and attainment apart.

17 activity types, chosen for the idea

Recognition work where recognition is the point, and 6 higher agency families where a decision is: branching scenarios, parameterised experiments, an artefact with one fault to find, evidence investigations, prioritisation under a capacity limit, and steered dialogue.

Hints that hold back

An assessed step needs three rungs: orientation, then structure, then scaffold. The scaffold rung declares what it must not reveal, so the last hint before the answer is still not the answer. Generation writes the rungs from each step's own answer key and refuses a ladder it cannot write without giving the answer away, so the readiness report names any assessed step left without one, and you write that one in Studio.

You keep editorial control

Open the lab in Studio and edit it in the element the learner reads it in, not in a form beside a shrunken preview. What you see on the canvas is the learner view, rendered by the same code.

It knows what level you teach at

All 8 RQF and FHEQ levels are modelled, and the level changes how much scaffolding is given, how much ambiguity is tolerated, and how many reasoning steps a task may take. It is not a badge on the header.

What it tells you when it struggles

A weak result is reported, not smoothed over. The generation stream names every correction it made, the fidelity panel names the passages it could not place, and the quality gates that could not apply to your lab are listed as inapplicable rather than counted as passes.

What this does not do

Studio edits structure as well as wording: you can add, remove, reorder and retype a block, a step or a section, so if the engine picked the wrong kind of question you can swap it. A retype keeps your instruction except into a cloze, which cannot hold one, and Studio says so before you press. Parts of figure, scenario and dialogue activities cannot be edited anywhere in Studio yet, so the remedy there is to regenerate; Studio lists each such part on the block rather than letting it look editable. We would rather say that here than let you find it at eleven at night.
